Partnering with those who matter most: Patient and community engagement support

Patient and community engagement ensures that research is conducted with, not just about, the people it aims to serve. This collaborative approach brings the voices, experiences, and priorities of women, children, and communities directly into the research process — from identifying important research questions and designing studies, to interpreting findings and sharing results. Engagement activities may include the creation of patient advisory groups to inform research priorities, involving patients as co-investigators, or partnering with community organizations to ensure research addresses real-world needs. By centring the perspectives of those most affected by health issues, patient and community engagement make research more relevant, ethical, and impactful.
