REDCap is a secure, web-based application for building and managing online databases. Using REDCap’s streamlined process for rapidly developing databases, you can create and design databases using the following:
- The online method from your web browser using the Online Form Editor.
- The offline method by constructing a “data dictionary” template file in Microsoft Excel, which can be later uploaded into REDCap.
REDCap provides automated export procedures for seamless data downloads to Excel and common statistical packages (SPSS, SAS, Stata, R), as well as a built-in project calendar, a scheduling module, ad hoc reporting tools and advanced features, such as branching logic, file uploading and calculated fields.
WCHRI regularly hosts REDCap training sessions. Training sessions, for which registration is requested, typically cover introductory content, but may have a different theme from one session to the next. Drop-in sessions provide an informal opportunity for REDCap users to ask questions specific to their own circumstances.

Register for sessions or watch the “Detailed Overview of REDCap” (14 minutes).
Please note: REDCap training sessions and support services are provided by the Women & Children’s Health Research Institute at the University of Alberta for the benefit of WCHRI members, University of Alberta researchers, and our collaborators. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide support for REDCap users who are not affiliated with one of these groups.
