Understanding how work affects health and mental wellness of Black women in Alberta’s healthcare
In Alberta, many healthcare workers are women, especially Black women, facing discrimination and health challenges. This study aims to understand how discrimination and health challenges impact the well-being of Black women in healthcare in Alberta. By examining workplace policies and interviewing Black women professionals, I will assess the effects of unfair systems on their health and access to support services. Through studying policies, conducting interviews with 20-30 Black women healthcare workers, and carefully analyzing the data, I seek to identify areas for intervention to help improve the mental health of Black women in healthcare. The results will be shared at meetings and in papers to improve the health outcomes and support for Black women in healthcare, aligning with efforts to enhance women's health and well-being.
