Understanding epigenetic causes of neurodevelopmental disorders
The genetic material we inherit from our parents provides a blueprint for every cell in the body. How this blueprint is used in different cell types and tissues is tightly controlled. When this control is undermined, it can affect development or lead to disease. This is the case for a subset of neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism spectrum disorder. In this proposal, we look at a specific instance where this control is lost and attempt to understand how this occurs.
