Many women in or approaching menopause express frustration during this time due to limited resources and cultural silence. To address this lack of support, we are launching AURA, a 12-week digital program aimed at enhancing knowledge of menopause while decreasing menopause symptom burden and enhancing quality of life. We will be recruiting women in the late-reproductive to menopause stages, between the ages of 40 and 60, who are eligible to receive menopause-specific care, such as menopause hormone therapy, at the Alberta Women's Cycles to Cessation Clinic. Women will be placed into one of three arms: 1) Clinic only, 2) Clinic and AURA, and 3) AURA only. Clinical data and quality of life scores will be collected throughout the program for all participants. For those placed in arms 2 or 3, the first four weeks of AURA will provide education addressing key aspects of menopause, through animated videos, narrated by subject-matter experts. To evaluate baseline knowledge and learning outcomes, participants will complete brief pre- and post-video assessments ('quizzes'). The final eight weeks of AURA will consist of a tailored intervention, strength or restorative, to support participants' menopause symptoms. We will summarize the results to understand who took part in the study and whether AURA helps improve knowledge about menopause, improving quality of life scores and decreasing menopause symptom burden. This study will provide new insights into how increased knowledge with or without menopause-specific care can support women going through menopause and help improve primary care for women in Alberta.
