Funding outcome

Exploring housing interventions in Edmonton for women who are pregnant or have new babies. Each year in Edmonton there are about 100 homeless women that are pregnant or have new babies. These women are in need of housing, health and social support services. Many of the women are also affected by addictions and mental health issues. Services are not currently in place that fully address their complex needs, including their need for housing. In this community based research study, we will examine experiences of women in a new transitional housing program: Housing First options. We will also compare these experiences to those of women who remain precariously housed in Edmonton. We are interested in understanding how different housing interventions or the lack of access to housing and support, shapes how these women move from homeless to housed and the challenges, and possibilities they face during this process.
