As a member of the Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine, I am interested in providing the best care possible to children who require inpatient admission for medical illnesses. In this unique environment, I witness strengths and challenges to pediatric inpatient care. I am interested in clinical research directly related to our practices in the hospital setting, including the monitoring of pediatric inpatients and the development of practice guidelines to enhance patient care. Furthermore, I am interested in identifying barriers to providing excellence in inpatient care. In addition, I am a pediatric medical educator. The inpatient environment also provides me the opportunity to teach pediatric medicine to a wide range of learners, from students to residents. Educational research interests include developing educational methods to enhance clinical reasoning skills in these learners. Furthermore, I would like to help facilitate clinical research interests of residents in the University of Alberta's Pediatric Residency Program.
