As an academic developmental pediatrician my focus is in investigating clinical areas of pediatric neuromotor rehabilitation. My research activities focus on the impact of interventions and service delivery on childhood disability. I am interested in the management of hypertonia and its impact on functional ability and participation. We are using instrumented gait analysis and new technologies such as accelerometry to improve the treatment efficacy of orthopedic surgery and the use of medications aimed towards reducing spasticity. Another area of focus is the delivery of community based healthcare services to children with chronic disability, specifically rehabilitation services for children with cerebral palsy in Alberta. My most recent interest is the long term follow up of individuals who have sustained spinal cord injuries during childhood.
