Our collaborative, interdisciplinary research program focuses on the development, quality assessment and use of cellular products to treat a variety of neonatal, perinatal and adult diseases. We work closely with healthcare providers to implement changes in practice that improve patient outcomes. Currently, we are working on the development of blood products that are specifically tailored for neonatal / intrauterine or paediatric transfusion. In addition, we have developed point-of-care molecular diagnostic tools that allow for non-invasive genotyping of the fetus using cell-free fetal DNA in maternal plasma. Collectively, our program is providing tools and cellular products that will advance transfusion therapy in women and children.
