Summary of research:
Neurological & Developmental Outcomes of Severe TBI: aims to describe the neuro-developmental outcomes of the Pediatric population seen in our Brain Injury clinic in follow-up for 10 yrs. Cerebral Palsy Registry: Creating the Alberta Registry. The attempt is to map the various diagnosis under the term 'CP' and follow outcomes from the clinical perspectives, animal models and genetic etiologies. Autism Treatment Network (ATN): This international research project presents a multi-disciplinary approach to Autism. I am directing the Pediatric Neurology part of this in Edmonton. Niemann Pick Type-C: is a devastating Neurodegenerative Disorder that presents with various clinical symptoms in childhood, teenage and adulthood and is frequently misdiagnosed. In the last 24 months there is a treatment available worldwide, and recently approved in Canada. I am a member of 7 leading physicians from across the Country that attempt to educate Physicians, investigate the pathophysiology of this disease. I co-supervise 2 PhD students - one from Psychiatry dealing with Parenthood to Children with TBI. The second from Bio-Medical Engineering developing a nerve welding technique.
