My research interests were first developed in the area of autism. I have a number of themes of interest in autism especially related to effectiveness of early interventions, quality of life and transitioning to adulthood. Impacts of environmental toxins on children with neurodevelopmental disorders including those with autism is an area of interest developed first with the study on lead in autism and now further work is being explored in collaboration with the Environmental Health Clinic team. Now I am adding topics of interest in the area of Brain injury related to outcomes that will hopefully be prospective and longer term studies. The third area of interest that is just recent is in the area of teaching development to medical students. Our goal is to improve child developmental outcomes with early detection, prevention and intervention by impacting the knowledge base and competency of physicians at a very early level of medical school training.
