Summary:Malnutrition is a common occurrence in patients with cancer, and varies by cancer site, cancer stage and cancer treatments. In my research I study the unique aspects of cancer malnutrition in women (versus men) and in children versus adults. A major current research theme is understanding why women are uniquely susceptible to severe toxicity when treated with conventional doses of chemotherapy, forcing them to quit their cancer treatment. The longer term goal is to identify how women and children may be given personalized chemotherapy doses, to get the best cancer response.
