Summary:

I have two primary areas of research focus: • Orthodontic Biomechanics: I le investigate complex force systems associated with orthodontic treatment modalities in children and adolescents. We also investigate the biologic effect of mechanical loading on oral tissue. • Analysis of Craniofacial Morphology with advanced imaging: I lead numerous projects investigating Cone Beam CT imaging for evaluation of dento-alveolar and skeletal changes due to growth and orthodontic intervention. Similar approaches are utilized to investigate craniofacial morphology associated with pediatric obstructive sleep apnea. We have developed a technique for superimposing 3D imaging data using an optimization algorithm with discrete landmarks and a technique for co-registration of MRI and CBCT images for TMJ. My current work in this area involves development of diagnostic ultrasound applications in dentistry.
