Leaders in Research speaker series: Amit Bhavsar

Tuesday, April 9, 2019 - 4:00pm to 5:15pm

"Thinking big and humility—pondering their duality is a great distraction when picking yourself up and dusting yourself off"

Imagine that we’ve developed therapies that save the lives of children. Now, imagine we can do better. Treatment-related toxicities are part and parcel of childhood cancer therapy but basic sciences are forging paths towards mitigating these outcomes. Collaborative, interdisciplinary science and some WCHRI-love can make the difference.

Amit Bhavsar loves Canadian education. He obtained his PhD in biochemistry from McMaster University and completed postdoctoral training at the Michael Smith Laboratories at the University of British Columbia. Fate made him a research associate at BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute. Bhavsar joined the Medical Microbiology and Immunology Department as an assistant professor in 2017. He can now skate.
